Fending Menaces
From the The American Spectator (emphasis Mongo's) on the President's European Trip:
Yep, show the BIG STICK. Hey libtards, diplomacy and winning "global tests" depend on two things:
One, the other nation sees that its best interest lie with the United States.
Two, the United States can increase either the incentives or the LEVEL OF PAIN until the other nation sees that its best interest lie with the United States.
No other options.
Syria apparently just turned Saddam Hussein's cousin (or nephew) over to US/Iraqi forces. I wonder why? They loved him until the heat went up after the assassination in Lebanon, I'll bet. Then CUZ, you are a pawn in the global game.
UPDATE .. It was ole Saddam's brother... sweet. The Syrians probably dumped him off at the border.
"instead of going to 'mend fences,' Bush needs to go to 'fend menaces.' The Europeans have just enough power to get in the way sometimes, and it pays to keep them on the reservation, but the speaking softly part is usually less important than carrying a big stick. Their chimera of defeating Bush by daunting American voters with their superciliousness has been undone by reality. This returns things to their regular state wherein it's in the Europeans' best interest to be on our good side."
