Gun Control Update Notes
HCI Credo Handgun Control Inc Believes:
"That it's wrong to make snide, sexist comments about women, unless the comments are about women who own guns.
That a gun with an 11 round magazine is dangerous, but a gun with fifteen 10 round magazines is much safer."

I grew up with five rifles (.308s and .22s), two shotguns, and a couple of handguns in the house. The funny thing was, I wasn't allowed to have a BB gun because my dad thought it would make me think of guns as toys, and he wanted me to know they shouldn't be trifled with. Everyone in my county was armed to the teeth, but the only gunshot wounds were from the occasional deer hunting accident.
There is a huge chasm in perspective on guns, I believe, between those who grew up in a rural setting and those who didn't.
I agree. When I was a kid, I learned to hunt with my friends and their dads. My dad, ex marine, while he didn't mind guns around the home, didn't like to hunt.
We had a similar rule to your dad's. Treat every gun as if it is loaded in the hunting cabin. Because, guess what, every gun was loaded. The rule was, as soon as we arrived the guns were uncased, loaded with one in the chamber, put on safe and put against the wall. Worked well.
You might be right about the rural setting, but there has been so much propaganda from the anti gun types, a lot of people are afraid of guns.
Myself, I'll protect my own at 1500 feet per second now, rather than wait for the Police to arrive in 20 minutes.
