Straight Shooting on Gun Control

This article.. A Reason debate showcases the gun grabbers' flawed elitist logic. There are four persons interviewed, one who seems pro 2nd amendment, and another who feels the ACLU (excuse me while I ROFL) will protect gun ownership.

"Admittedly, Handgun Control Inc., now known as the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, champions the more moderate position that people may have firearms for hunting and target shooting. But these guns either must be locked up in a public armory or, if kept at home, must be unloaded and disassembled. The aim is to keep ordinary people from having firearms readily available for self-defense.
Yep HCI is moderate all right. Just keep the old shootin irons locked up as the local gang kicks down your door to rape steal and kill. You can always depend on the Police to arrive to put down the chalk lines.

The ultimate goal of the anti-gun movement precludes any compromise. Gun control advocates disingenuously ridicule gun owners for fighting regulation of guns similar to what they readily accept for cars. But drivers too would adamantly oppose controls if they were promoted by people who believed that automobiles are evil instruments no decent person would want to have and that anyone who does desire them must be warped sexually, intellectually, educationally, and ethically.
That is correct "precludes any compromise". So when you see "sensible" gun control like the assinine assault weapons ban, remember that they are nothing but a step towards total confiscation and government control. Can you spell high crime rates? Can you spell home invasions? Can you spell democide (or genocide...whichever you please)?

Car registration and driver licensing would be adamantly opposed if advocated on the ground that cars should be made increasingly unavailable to ordinary people and eventually denied to all but the military, police, and the influence peddlers and other 'special' individuals whom the military or police select to receive permits.
Excellent.

The 'Media Party' is over

A great article describing the fall of the American Mainstream Media Party by Howard Fineman at of all places ... MSNBC.com Mongo's Emphasis, of course ...
Bush doesn't hate the AMMP (indeed, he likes his share of reporters on a personal basis). He just refuses to care about what it's up to. The terrorist attack of 9/11, and the added security concerns it fueled, have given the White House a new reason to keep the AMMP at bay. Pools are "tighter," more and more events are "closed press," and those that are open are to be viewed at a distance, if at all.
Yes, the Prez doesn't have to play their game anymore. The latest Helen Thomas attack on Scott McClellan the Press Secretary is an amusing anecdote. The president won't call on her at press conferences at all (remember she always used to be first...). Read some of her trash and figure out why.
In this situation, the last thing the AMMP needed was to aim wildly at the president — and not only miss, but be seen as having a political motivation in attacking in the first place. Were Dan Rather and Mary Mapes after the truth or victory when they broadcast their egregiously sloppy story about Bush's National Guard Service? The moment it made air it began to fall apart, and eventually was shredded by factions within the AMMP itself, conservative national outlets and by the new opposition party that is emerging: The Blogger Nation. It's hard to know now who, if anyone, in the "media" has any credibility.
The answer is no one.

And, as Walter Cronkite would say, that's the way it is.
And, you know, when Walter used to say that, that WAS the way it IS. The Socialist Mainstream Media defined the agenda, spoke about the agenda, and told us what to think about the agenda. Their agenda. Anything that didn't fit their view of the world was not negatively reported on ... IT WAS NOT REPORTED AT ALL. Propaganda is controlling the flow of news, and then spinning what you can't control. There were very few things they couldn't control. BTW did anyone notice that 60 Minutes II has been cancelled... Courage, Rather, Courage. What IS that frequency Kenneth?

Newsweek clams up on U.S. flag in trash

Worldnetdaily
Despite receiving national TV and Internet media attention for its international magazine editions that have been branded as anti-American and even treasonous, Newsweek has refused to respond to the growing criticism.
Don't you know that they are above us? We are the proletariat to these commissars. Hey Newsweek, do some research under Rosenberg, Julius and Ethel, and get back to us...

Leaving the left

Keith Thompson in SF GATE (thats Frisco in the PRK) I can no longer abide the simpering voices of self-styled progressives -- people who once championed solidarity:
"These days the postmodern left demands that government and private institutions guarantee equality of outcomes. Any racial or gender 'disparities' are to be considered evidence of culpable bias, regardless of factors such as personal motivation, training, and skill. This goal is neither liberal nor progressive; but it is what the left has chosen. In a very real sense it may be the last card held by a movement increasingly ensnared in resentful questing for group-specific rights and the subordination of citizenship to group identity. There's a word for this: pathetic. "
Absolutely. Welcome Keith. You've seen the light (or found your senses).

Conservatism As Pathology - Are Bush supporters literally insane?

Timothy Noah analyzes the analysts who feel that people who voted for Bush are deranged.

The further you get into this line of thinking, I'm afraid, the more ridiculous it starts to sound. I've never observed, and I doubt you have either, that members of the working class demonstrate a greater tendency than people higher up the income scale to be more fearful, or more threatened, or more intolerant of ambiguity, or more irrationally fearful of death, or more inclined to pick fights with their parents, or more sex-deprived.

Yep, its disturbing. What is more disturbing for the libtards is that the fact that the inmates are running the asylum. Whoo Hah!

Bill Whittle's Latest -- Sanctuary. A Real Masterpiece -- Take an hour and read this

Bill at Eject! Eject! Eject! on our liberal, leftist brethren:
"Reality has not been kind to far leftists, historically, as we shall soon see.

Like many in the deepest, most pleasant and safe confines of our Sanctuary, they have never had a chance to see or have chosen not to see -- the reality of human nature up close and personal.

Reality told them it was just going to the bathroom, when in point of fact Reality left these Leftists alone at the table without paying the check, and it hasn't returned their phone calls, either.

So they just don't even bother any more.
Emphasais Mongo's... Bill absolutely nails the leftist view of the world. More

"There's nothing 'progressive' about what these people believe. It is refined selfishness and moral cowardice.

I can understand not wanting to go overseas and lose blood and treasure to solve other people's problems. I can at least understand that. But these 'progressives' should be thanking whatever they take to be sacred -- which is nothing -- and hit their knees in gratitude that better, braver people have built them the kind of Sanctuary where torture and state-sponsored murder are so far from their closed eyes that even the act of imagining such horrors is beyond them. "

Journalism Safety PSA

Confederate Yankee: Journalism Safety PSA
>"Journalism Safety PSA
'Guns Don't Kill People. Reporters Kill People.'

Kids, remember to follow these simple rules if you find a journalist:

STOP AND DON'T TOUCH IT.
LEAVE THE AREA
TELL A RESPONSIBLE ADULT WHAT YOU FOUND

The adult should NOT touch the journalist either.

Even if the adult is familiar with journalism safety rules, the journalist should not be handled.

The journalist could be essential evidence that could be used in a solving a crime and the mere position of the journalist could be important. Not to mention footprints, fingerprints, clothing threads, blood, tire tracks or cartridge cases that might be in the immediate area.

If you are alone, remember exactly where the journalist is.

Carefully leave the area without disturbing anything.

If possible, post a sentry or responsible person to keep everyone away from the area.

As soon as possible, bring a police officer to the journalist. Don't pick it up and bring it to the police station.

Thank You."

Judicial Appointment Scorecard

I can't add much to Neal Boortz's analysis about the filibuster of judges and obstructionist tactics of the Demogogs
"Now .. in case you've forgotten, here's the scorecard. The Washington Times ran a story last week detailing just how obstructionist the Democrats have been on judicial appointments. The Times article put to rest once and for all the idea that the Democrats were just doing to the Republicans what the Republicans did to the Democrats when Clinton was the one making the judicial appointments. The Times looked at all presidential nominations to federal appeals courts during the first two-years of the first terms of recent presidents. The following list shows the percentages of presidential appellate court nominees who were eventually confirmed by the Senate:

Harry Truman 100%
Dwight Eisenhower 92.3%
John Kennedy 77.3%
Lyndon Johnson 96.2%
Richard Nixon 87%
Gerald Ford 81.8%
Jimmy Carter 100%
Ronald Reagan 95%
G.H.W. Bush 95.7%
Bill Clinton 86.4%
George Bush 53.1%

Can it be any more clear? For the 10 post WWII presidencies the confirmation rate for appellate court nominees averaged 91.2%. For George Bush it's 53.1% Now ... remember that two of Bush's nominees were first appointed to the appellate bench by Bill Clinton. Bush re-nominated them as an act of goodwill toward Clinton and the Democrats. If you take those two confirmations out of the mix, Bush's confirmation percentage is 50%."

Why the battle? I've said it before. The democraps can't have their agenda flushed through the system through elected representatives. If they did pass the laws they wanted, they would NOT be reelected. So they pack the courts.

Another Scumbag Removed from the Gene Pool

St. Louis Post Dispatch yesterday: Execution set tonight for child's killer:
"Brown's lawyers said he was sexually and physically abused as a child, suffered a head injury and was on the drug PCP at the time he killed Perkins.

In their appeals, the lawyers also argued that drugs used in lethal injection cause excessive pain. "

This scumbag bound, strangled, and dumped a 9 year old girl's body in two trash bags in the alley behind his home. No mention if he molested her, but use your imagination. BTW he was also convicted of another murder during this case. The lawyers and the Post Disgrace want us to know he was a victim. Who cares, and if the lethal injection causes excessive pain, let's blow away his brain stem with a pistol, so he doesn't feel it.

Update today 18 May...

After more than three hours strapped to a gurney waiting to hear the U.S. Supreme Court's final decision on his appeal, Brown looked to the left towards his spiritual advisor and one of his lawyers, then looked up at the ceiling of the death chamber.

After the first drug was administered at 2:32 a.m., Brown moved his head slightly with his eyes closed, and pointed his chin up towards the ceiling blowing air out of his mouth, which then fell open. A doctor pronounced Brown dead at 2:35 a.m.
Sounds like a peaceful way for this double murdering piece of human garbage to be removed from our gene pool by the dirt skimmer of the State. He deserved more pain, but we are the humane ones, he wasn't.

Newsweek Lied -- People Died

Protests in Jalalabad

The SMSM has done it once again. Emphasis Mongo's My Way News:
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Newsweek magazine said on Sunday it erred in a May 9 report that U.S. interrogators desecrated the Koran at Guantanamo Bay, and apologized to the victims of deadly Muslim protests sparked by the article.

Editor Mark Whitaker said the magazine inaccurately reported that U.S. military investigators had confirmed that personnel at the detention facility in Cuba had flushed the Muslim holy book down the toilet."

Okay, they lied. No one flushed a Koran. Several dozen of people died in the ensuing riots in Pakistan, Afganistan and elsewhere and Newsweek "apologizes" to them. Those folks are DEAD, Newsweek. You have their BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS, Newsweek.

"Newsweek reported that Pentagon spokesman Lawrence DiRita reacted angrily when the magazine asked about the source's continued assertion that he had read about the Koran incident in an investigative report. 'People are dead because of what this son of a bitch said. How could he be credible now?' DiRita told Newsweek."

The people responsible for this action should immediately quit their jobs and seek forgiveness in any way they see fit. Wait, that would be HONORABLE wouldn't it? We can't expect that out of the socialist intelligencia. Burn in Hell.

Hillary the Felon?

The Tin Ear: Does Hillary Have Reservations at the Graybar Hotel?:
"I have always stated that
I believed that Bill and Hillary are sociopaths, completely amoral, and probably certifiable
. This information has only strengthened my opinion. Others believe this to. In a hand delivered letter to Hillary in 2001, Mr. Paul stated the following: 'Rather than perpetuating the signature Clinton ethic of denial, semantical and rhetorical responses to valid requests and questions, and stonewalling,it is time to accept your responsibility as a Federal elected official and do the right thing according to the letter of the law, the position your campaign spokespeople have taken, and natural laws of right and ethical conduct and return the contributions I made, which you have by your collective actions, made illegal.'
Wow.

Buy a Prius -- Get higher taxes from Socialist Oregon

From OpinionJournal - The Western Front
Soak the Green
Oregon mulls a new tax that environmentalists and privacy advocates will hate.

BY BRENDAN MINITER

As gas prices continue to top $2 a gallon, all those drivers of fuel-efficient cars may not have reason to gloat for much longer. Oregon is worried that too many Honda Insights and Toyota Priuses hitting the roads will rob it of the cash it expects out of its 24-cent-a-gallon tax. So the Beaver State is studying ways to ensure that 'hybrid' car owners pay their 'fair share' of taxes for the miles they drive. That means allowing the taxman to catch up to hybrid owners just as often as he catches up to gas guzzling SUV drivers. And if Oregon goes ahead, it won't be long before other states follow."
Sorry "environmentally friendly" libtards... (excuse me, it is hard to type when you are lying on the floor laughing) Your wonderful socialist blue state politicians are going to take away your "advantage" to driving small, uncomfortable putters. Buck up Comrades.

Our Airport Screeners at work

From STLtoday :
"'Suspicious' luggage prompts alarm at Lambert
Post-Dispatch
05/10/2005

Things are back to normal now at Lambert Field, where passengers were being routed out of one area after security screeners thought they saw something suspicious in a piece of luggage.

Airport officials say that screeners thought they saw something suspicious about 10:50 this morning in Concourse A and called the county bomb and arson squad. People who were flying from the A Concourse were taken over to the B Concourse for security screening while authorities examined the object.

The airport got the all clear report by about 11:30. Some passengers experienced 10- to 15-minute delays, but airport officials said things are now back to regular operations.

The suspicious item, officials said, turned out to be a socket wrench. He was allowed to fly on to Charlotte, N.C., after authorities called his employer and verified he needed the wrench for his job."
Okay, I know what a socket wrench looks like, and I've also seen some specialized wrenches which look "strange". But they don't look like BOMBS. What idiots. I take the airport screening seriously, and they should too. Two things stand out, also. Why the county bomb squad? The airport is owned and operated by the city. And two, the entire affair was over in 40 minutes. With drive time the bomb squad could have been there in 15 to 20, cordoning off the area would take maybe 10. It looks like once the bomb specialist looked at the item they could have said "it is a wrench, you idiots", and walked away.

Kyoto Protocol--Propaganda or Censorship?

Kyoto Protocol--Propaganda or Censorship?:
"The numbers of scientists staggered me--17,100 basic and applied American scientists, two thirds with advanced degrees, are against the Kyoto Agreement.

The Heidelberg Appeal--which states that there is no scientific evidence for man-made global warming, has been signed by over 4,000 scientists from around the world since the petition's inception. I strongly questioned these high numbers, since I've had benefit of the Canadian government's public relations machine on this issue. Dr. Leahey has since sent documentation to back his figures up.

All those scientists were in total agreement: the Kyoto Protocol was complete fiction. "
Hey, maybe the 17 THOUSAND scientist aren't being paid to promote global warming? Or maybe they have some scruples.

Oh, BTW, this article brings out Canadian censorship of anti Kyoto views. Hmmm. Maybe they should call their newspaper Pravda?

Clear skies end global dimming

news @ nature.com -- Earth's air is cleaner, but this may worsen the greenhouse effect.
... "The results suggest that a downward trend in the amount of sunlight reaching the surface, which has been observed since measurements began in the late 1950s, is now over.

The researchers argue that this trend, commonly called 'global dimming', reversed more than a decade ago, probably following the collapse of communist economies and the consequent decrease in industrial pollutants."
Okayyyyyyy.

One. We stopped air pollution by two things:
First, harsher environmental laws
Second, we defeated Communism

Two. The wonderful "clear skies" we have provided for are ...(hush)INCREASING GLOBAL WARMING (SCREAM or laugh or ROLF, take your pick)

More money for research. More money for research! The solution must be found...

Another crock brought to you by ... government grants.

Researcher admits fraud in grant data

Wellll nowwww, here is a story from Boston.com about a health researcher who falsified his findings to gain Federal and private grants.
"Some colleagues speculated that Poehlman buckled to an exaggerated perception of the pressure to publish papers and win grants to keep his laboratory going. Or perhaps he was so sure he knew the right answers that he cut corners to get to them, they said."
His assistant, who was led down the path by the researcher, led investigators to this charlatan ...
"At first, DeNino assumed he had made the mistake. But when he compared the original data against the revised data from Poehlman, he could see that, in women who seemed to be getting healthier over time, Poehlman had reversed the order of test results, making it appear that cholesterol levels and blood pressure readings had gotten worse, not better. ''He was trying to exaggerate the age-related deterioration of menopause,' DeNino said."
Stories like this make me wonder. If a "researcher" can skew real data to make his or her conclusions convenient, what could this say about the GLOBAL WARMING crowd? Not only do they get more money for research, they can also support the anti-capitalist and anti-American agendas many of them have. Verrrrry Interesting, No?

Mass Graves Undiscovered Under Iraq's U.N. Cover

From Bob Newman
"...How many genocidal regimes have been removed from power and how many democracies have been formed by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch?
Zero.

How many mass graves will never exist because of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch?
Zero.

How many genocidal regimes have been removed from power by the United States and its allies since October 2001?
Two.

How many mass graves will never exist because the United States and its allies have put tyrants on notice that they might very well have to face the US, British, Australian, Italian and other democracies militaries if they slaughtered the innocent?
There's no way of telling, but the number is obviously far more than zero.

And now, no thanks to Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, the Syrian army has fled Lebanon after 29 years of occupation, elections were recently held in Saudi Arabia, election reforms are planned for Egypt, Libya turned over its entire and quite large weapons of mass destruction program to the United States and Great Britain, and democracy has been born in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The response to these facts from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch?
America is evil."

America will always be evil to these NGO's because our existance makes them seem weak and ineffectual. Why is that? Because they are.

The plan of the NGO's is to provide rule and control to the world without pesky things like accountability and elections. (sounds a bit like Communism?)

The Decline of Newspapers

boortz.com
"Newspapers are dinosaurs. Why would you pay several hundred dollars a year to read something a day or two old that you can read instantaneously on the Internet? Chances are you probably wouldn't, which is why people are jumping ship."
Hello? St. Louis Post Disgrace? Are you listening?
"Then there is the case of media bias. Newspapers in this country are overwhelmingly liberal. They are staffed by liberal reporters and their Op-ed pages are stocked with liberal columnists and opinion. They endorse liberal Democrats for office. People are tired of it. Newspapers are learning the same lesson CNN is learning....people are onto their game and are looking for alternate, less-biased news sources."

Leading scientific journals 'are censoring debate on global warming'

London news Telegraph:
"... Prof Roy Spencer, at the University of Alabama, a leading authority on satellite measurements of global temperatures, told The Telegraph: 'It's pretty clear that the editorial board of Science is more interested in promoting papers that are pro-global warming. It's the news value that is most important.'
He said that after his own team produced research casting doubt on man-made global warming, they were no longer sent papers by Nature and Science for review - despite being acknowledged as world leaders in the field."

Thanks to the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler for pointing out this article. It seems if you don't agree with the "global warming" crowd, you can't get your voice heard. Surprise, Surprise.

Media Bias??

From Neal Boortz

"People are on to the media and this time, there's no turning back."

The survey publicized by ABC shows 85% surveyed feel the media is biased, and 49% feel there is a liberal bias.

A couple of observations:

One, ABC would not report this if they thought the news would get out.

Two, I don't trust any survey unless I see some of the questions. It is too easy to "point" a respondent to an "acceptable" answer. I'll have to check more into the source.

But, and most importantly, three

ABC did report it and it shows 85% of us (the other 15%? who cares) know about bias, and almost half (but it is probably much higher), know that it is a liberal bias.

The SMSM will not and does not control the agenda anymore, and if they don't back off their agenda driven reporting they will become less and less relevant.

On another note... The journalists like to call their career a "profession". A profession is an activity which requires a person to have standards, such as a MD, CPA, or even (gack) a Lawyer. Any "journalist" who considers himself or herself a professional, better look around. As always, anyone who has a tape recorder, a phone, a notepad, and a computer can be a journalist. The standard is not very high.

GUN CONTROL UPDATE

HCI Credo, WE BELIEVE: "That 1 firearm owner in 10,000 will commit an act of violence in his or her lifetime, and this is far more frightening than the 25% of drivers who will cause a serious or fatal accident.

That you should rely on police in lieu of your gun, just as you should rely on a dentist in lieu of your toothbrush."
